It was a whirlwind of a very busy, very merry, very happy Christmas Day!
Super J is up the earliest of the kids (around 5:15 am!) so we make him read to us while everyone else can stay sleeping.
Kids are waking up, time to head downstairs!
The stocking setup and "mystery" present
The mystery present is a very old dollhouse for CC
She is having a blast playing with all the toys and creatures!
Nana also has a mystery present...
She must finish a scavenger hunt which takes everyone to the sun porch and the garage...
Kids help Nana with more clues in the kitchen until she solves the mystery (and receives many different kinds of gloves!)
Little L is most excited for the present that's nearly as tall as him!
Super J is running on happiness and sugar, while Big B needs some cocoa to get the day started
Time for breakfast after opening stocking! This year we have an egg scramble, bacon, homemade cinnamon buns, and mimosas for the adults.
Pepper loves her new chewy toy
The unwrapping begins. We go in age order from oldest to youngest, and CC has the hardest time waiting patiently for her turn...
But finally it's her turn to open a present and the wait was worth it!
"Anna-Elsa!" she squeals. "I got Anna-Elsa present for Kwis-mas!"
What a wonderful Christmas morning we all have.
CC sneaks away from the chaos of unwrapping and plays with her dollhouse
Pepper desperately wants to eat the squirrels and birds outside the window
Everyone gets dressed and we get ready to head out for second Christmas!
Daddy makes a quick stop in the basement
Kids are busily scoping out the pile of presents.
Cousins arrive-- let the unwrapping festivities begin!
I think this is when CC shouted "I GOT UNDERPANTS!" as she ripped open her gift.
Homemade chicken soup for lunch
CC goes down for a nap and the boys also have some quiet down time
Time for a third Christmas venue-- a special dinner at Uncle S & Aunt K's!
Kids immediately head to the basement to check out the new game room setup.
Dinnertime and CC gets to snuggle a bit with Evie Puppy
Aww, three brothers breaking a chair on Christmas...
Head on a white-knuckled drive back into town through sleet and freezing fog.
Kids enjoy a bit of screens and television before bed.
End the night with something that's required for every DITL-- laundry!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours!
See you in 2022.
