A "Typical" Saturday in May 2020 during COVID-19 Quarantine
It's unusual that I'm the first person awake, but it's nice to have some quiet/alone time first thing in the morning.
Soon, the boys are up and want to be on screens.
Leftover pizza for breakfast
We get dressed and head outside to check on our flowers.
Lilacs seem to be doing very well this year! Soon we will have delicious-smelling blossoms.
Heading out on an early-morning family walk.
CC enjoys being pushed in the stroller.
After the walk, it's time for second breakfast!
And Saturday morning chores-- dishes, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms
Before vacuuming can happen, the littles need to clean up the disaster-space of the playroom! We spend a good hour getting everything sorted and put in its proper home.
Meanwhile, Daddy works to fix one of the brackets on the heart table
And the boys play with little sister while Mama tackles her Saturday project-- weeding the garden.
Time for lunch! Sandwiches for everyone.
While the kids are busy eating, I jump in the car to quickly pick up the seedlings I ordered from the Cornell Cooperative Extension just down the street. I ordered a lot more than this, but because of demand and grower shortages-- we got 8 tomatoes, 2 peppers, and a couple thyme seedlings.
CC is napping when I get home, and the boys are watching a documentary on PBS about homelessness. Super J falls asleep on the couch fairly quickly, but the big boys have lots of questions about why some people don't have homes and how their lives are different than ours.
Check on the laundry drying outside.
After the homeless documentary, it's time to record a Crossfit Kids workout with Aunt K via Zoom!
CC wakes up and we spend some time swinging.
Daddy shows B how to climb a tree in the backyard.
Now time for the real adventure! We're going to fish at the Bluebird Hill Farm pond this afternoon!
CC tests out the life jackets for safety.
B inspects all his tackle.
Stop by the Stewart's to pick up night crawlers.
At the farm, we head down to the pond and check out Uncle C's lumber mill on the way.
First fishing outing of the year! The boys are vibrating with excitement and the fish are biting like mad.

CC carefully inspects the fish while B unhooks it.
After fishing, there are cats to be petted
And cookies to bake with Aunt K!
After dinner, CC pretends to wear everyone's shoes.
Heading home! Thanks for a great dinner and fun afternoon at the farm!
Everyone bathes and heads to bed. I do one last clean up of the downstairs before going to sleep myself.
