2020 October DITL: It's Moving Day!

My brother and his fiancee have moved into our Lake House! We are so happy to have them closer and hope they will enjoy living here.

Early morning play

Big B is the first one out the door to middle school. Have a great Thursdsay!

Super J and I enjoy breakfast together

Sister CC picks out her snack for daycare.

Little L practices piano

Dressed for a day of moving boxes and furniture!

Pick out an outgrown sweatshirt for the neighborhood Freecycle group

Boys ready for the bus

Break in photos until we've arrived at the lake! Dave backs in the 26 foot moving truck

"Keep coming!" says Grumpa, but the truck is stuck in the mud

It's a glorious (RAINY) day on the water

Before the unpacking starts, I take a quick picture of the empty space

In process-- unloading goes surprisingly quickly

Family meeting inside the truck

Mid-way through

Small problem when the couch pieces won't fit through the door
"It's Magic!" says Karen

"The couch is in!"

Nana in the overhead storage, passing down the final boxes

Check out how far the tire has sunk into the dirt

Now that the truck is unloaded, we (Karen) try to dig out the tire

Maybe if we wedge some plywood under the tire, we'll be able to drive it out?

This is great-- we all watch while Karen does the hard work!
Have I mentioned that it's been raining this entire time?!?

We have to give up on our plans of digging out the truck, and call in a tow

And this is why-- there's a hidden DRY WELL under the moving truck tire!

Wow, wow, wow.

FaceTime with Daddy still at work to show him the progress.

Unloading is complete

Some things stored in the basement

The U-Haul is unstuck, and we head down to Karen's to unload the last of the big items that she will store in her great room

Backing into the farm driveway

Nana sweeps out the truck after the final items unloaded

I drive down the hill in the truck with David on the last leg

Daddy and B are home to greet us!

Attach the travel trailer

And they're off! Bye bye, big truck!

Daddy tries to even out the tire marks in the grass

Go to pick up the children from daycare

Shenanigans happen

Nana and Grumpa come for dinner and they play games while it finishes cooking

This one is just perfect

Pretending to "sleep"

Probably talking about the universe and astrophysics

Aunt Karen joins us for dessert

Cleaning up

After dinner, I have a library book club event to attend

But we get this message from the lake... there's a dripping from one of the kitchen beams! Yikes

We touch base with our contractor, who will check on the leak tomorrow. Now it's time for bed after a very busy day!
See you in November, DITL!
